All that dirt finally killed the fuel pump. Tracy tightens up an electric pump mounted in the location of the stock mechanical pump on a fabricated aluminum block off plate.

The first electric pump had the wrong size fittings for the fuel line and none could be found. After drilling a hole through the pump trying to tap threads for new fittings, we had to go get another one. I think this pump is better quality anyway. It was much longer but it still fit OK. We had problems with vapor lock with this pump though. If the car idled for long the heat from the engine would cause the fuel to boil in the

pump.
